2005 Val di Suga Brunello di Montalcino

Viva Italia!

Kristi and I are here at Restaurante La Scala in the Trastavere neighborhood in Rome. We had a wonderful day visiting the Colisseum, Ancient Rome, and the Vatican. It is 9:30 and we just sat down for dinner.

I ordered Spaghetti carbonara, Kristi ordered Ravioli w mushrooms, ham, basil, and wild mushrooms. For the segundi I ordered sliced filet w truffles and rosemary.

The wine for this gorgeous evening is a 2005 brunello. Tart raisens, cloves, and raspberry on the nose and plenty of acid make this wine a perfect match for our pasta. In the mouth there is maneur and mushroom to round out this wine.

Viva Italia!!! (B)

The ravioli’s are excellent, the basil makes them pop! 🙂
