2005 Scherrer Zinfandel – Old and Mature Vines

Ripe raspberries and red licorice dominate the nose of this wine.  A hint of spice and vanilla hide under the layers of lush red fruit in this wine.  Once opened for a bit a touch of earthiness enters the picture.  BBQ Ribs are on the menu tonight and I think this just might hold up the some of the spice of the ribs.  In the mouth the red fruit lingers and is pretty soft and not too alcoholic for a Zin.  If you like ripe Zin with a good finish, the just might be a great one for you.  (B)

  1. Sounds delicious! Will definitely try it! What would it go well with, in addition to ribs?
